When I went to Ireland for the first time I stayed with three different families working as an Au-pair. In the second family, I worked for a very famous singer at the time. His name was Red Hurley and he had represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest a few years before, so he was really well known there. Anyway, to cut a long story short, he taught me how to prepare hot whiskey which is a wonderful hot drink for a frosty winter evening. It is also particularly helpful if you have a cold. Here is the recipe…

INGREDIENTS

1 Measure of Irish whiskey.

2 tsp of sugar

1 Slice of lemon

5 cloves

First boil the kettle with some water. Take a glass and place a teaspoon in it. Then, pour the boiling water into the glass to heat it and discard. Next, add the whiskey and the sugar and stir. After that, prick the cloves in the lemon and put it in the whiskey. Finally, fill the glass to the top with hot water. Drink hot.

Cheers!
